Central Catholic High School (Lawrence, MA) is working with an outside agency partnership (EduBoston and New Oriental) that will assist us in bringing qualified international students to Central Catholic. On June 29, Dave DeFillippo ’66 is departing for China to serve as the CCHS ambassador and to select a small number of students to study at Central Catholic this fall. Follow his journey here.

Preparing for my trip for CCHS to China

Due to some overseas business logistics, my trip to China representing CCHS has been pushed back a few days. I leave for Beijing on Tuesday, July 6. The flight from Boston to Beijing is about 21 hours with a stop-over in San Francisco.

The purpose behind Central's sojourn to China is to meet with Chinese students and their families who are interested in having their fours years of high school completed in private secondary schools in the US, specifically New England. These international students aspire to attend top colleges in the US after completing high school here. Central Catholic was invited to participate because it is a school with an excellent academic reputation with colleges and universities in the US and also offers a very diverse range of opportunities for extracurricular interests. We hope to have a small number of Chinese students enroll as 9th graders in September and begin a unique cultural exchange at CCHS.

I will be meeting with students in Beijing and Shanghi as well as touring these cities and many of the wonders they have to offer. My wife, Kathy, will join me as I spread the good news about Central Catholic and Raider spirit in China.

  1. Mr. "D",

Have a safe and successful trip. I will pray for you and the folks you will travel with. It is great that Central is bringing Br. Linus' spirit to the far reaches of the world.
